Myrtle Street Klezmer:

Myrtle Street Klezmer's high-energy music draws on Balkan, Greek, Arabic, Rock, and Jazz music, in addition to favorites from the classic and contemporary Klezmer repertoire. We work in the tradition of the old-world klezmer musicians, singing in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Ladino, and teaching audiences about the background and meaning of the music and the tradition.

Since 2021, we've been connecting with audiences through performances, workshops, and presentations.  Our core members include Jason Ditzian (bandleader, clarinet), Myk Freedman (guitar), Jesse Olsen Bay (vocals, bass, bouzouki, percussion), Bea Carlson (vocals, accordion), Doug Plavin (percussion) and Dan Baker (tuba, trumpet, banjo). MSK has received awards/support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, New England Foundation for the Arts, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, among others.

ADRIANNE GREENBAUM, pioneer of the klezmer flute tradition, recognized as the “Queen of Klezmer Flute”, is the foremost purveyor of the klezmer flute tradition. Having reached International acclaim as both a klezmer and classical flutist. Her home base is as Professor of Flute at Mount Holyoke College, a position she has held for nearly 5 decades.
