Valley Jazz Voices "Some of that Sunshine" Free Live Streamed and Virtual Concert with special guest Karrin Allyson!

Valley Jazz Voices, in partnership with Northampton Open Media, is producing a free live streamed and virtual concert on May 2 at 7p.m. with special guest five-time Grammy nominated jazz vocalist, Karrin Allyson. The concert, directed by Jeff Olmsted, features Valley Jazz Voices singing several tunes, including with Allyson on her original, "Some of that Sunshine." Allyson will also duo on several songs with bassist Marty Jaffe which will be streamed LIVE from her home. The audience will also be able to live virtual chat with Allyson.  

Allyson has forged her career as a singer, songwriter, composer, pianist and bandleader with 16 CD's recorded under her name. Her latest release, "Shoulder to Shoulder" is a tribute to women's suffrage and her previous recording, "Some of that Sunshine" is her first album of all-original songs. Her breadth of repertoire is wide and diverse, singing jazz and Brazilian standards from composers including Gershwin, Porter, Monk, Jobim and more.

Marty Jaffe is a native of western Mass., and a rising bass player on the NYC and international scene. He studied at Columbia and Julliard with Ron Carter and other jazz greats. He has performed with Ingrid Jensen, Sergio Mendes, Karrin Allyson, Sullivan Fortner, Harold Mabern, and Steve Wilson. Marty tours the U.S. and the world with numerous groups, especially with Karrin Allyson and pianist Ben Rosenblum.
