Uplifiting Queer Voices Kickoff Party! at The Iron Horse on Saturday, August 31 2024
Uplifting Queer Voices is a community program made possible by the Live Music Society’s Music In Action Grant, dedicated to empowering and amplifying voices of local LGBTQIA+ musicians and industry professionals with an emphasis on QTBIPOC led affinity spaces. The program’s mission is to provide robust support to participants through professional development initiatives, workshops, and performance opportunities. Our goals include increasing accessibility, expanding artist representation, and diversifying our audiences, while creating a beloved third place (a community meeting space where we exchange ideas, have a good time, and build relationships).
The Uplifting Queer Voices Kickoff Party celebrates the culmination of our work to provide workshop opportunities and performances to the community with the announcement of our fall season of programming. Join us for a FREE evening of entertainment at The Iron Horse, featuring performances from Lexi Weege, Pamela Means, and Silvie's Okay!
Don’t miss roll call at the Iron Horse’s First Drag show in the Uplifting Queer Voices Series! Join local storytellers Entity and Magnolia Masquerade for a first day of school themed drag eleganza to meet the newcomers of our freshman class: Henna C. Johnson and Angel!
We will be collecting donations for our community partners, as well as donations to our scholarship fund so we can continue to remove barriers of access. Learn more about our workshop offerings, and mingle with your potential instructors and collaborators. We’ll see you there!
