Western Massachusetts folk rockers The Nields — sisters Nerissa and Katryna Nields — have carved out a singular style that combines pop craftsmanship, folk sensibility, '60s classic rock, and '90s alternative, always with an intelligent (and often humorous) take on the curve balls life keeps serving up. It's a sound Apple Music describes as “equal parts The Beatles, the Cranberries, and Joni Mitchell.” With finely tuned melodies, natural exuberance, 21 albums, major and independent record and publishing deals, and shows alongside Cake, 10,000 Maniacs, The Band, Dar Williams, Patty Griffin, James Taylor, and the Indigo Girls, The Nields have paid their dues many times over.

Their latest album, Circle of Days (June 2023), is their most ambitious and most familiar collection yet, built around the idea of a song for every month in the calendar year — from the winter solstice (“Darkest Day of the Year”) to Imbolc (“Brigid”) to spring's pagan rituals (“Death and Resurrection”), moving musically from folk-country balladry to joyful '70s pop to roots rock.

“I can't believe we get paid to do this!” says Nerissa. “I think the audience picks up on our gratitude pretty quickly, that we are so happy to be singing for them.” Katryna adds: “A lot of people say to us that they came in depressed and they left full of joy and hope. And there's really nothing better than that.”
