Formed in 1952, The Modern Jazz Quartet pushed the boundaries of jazz and classical music at a time when the genre, like the country itself, was in the throes of change. An epicenter of this evolution was The Music Inn, a musical oasis nestled in the Berkshire Mountains. This fascinating film is a collection of remembrances and anecdotes which highlight The Modern Jazz Quartet’s role in developing The Music Inn’s iconic School of Jazz during the mid to late 50s and features Percy Heath, John Lewis, Dave Brubeck, Ornette Coleman, Jim Hall, Herb Pomeroy, Gunther Schuller, Stephanie Barber and others.
