While their original songs are steeped in the flavor of classic rock and roll, their influences draw on an ever increasing range of genres that become manifested in their music, such as but not limited to jazz, folk, funk, blues, and psychedelia. The band's ongoing mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life forms, can be heard in the imaginative improvisational excursions interlaced throughout their shows. Back by popular demand SHANTYMAN Northampton MA Shantyman is a super-funk quartet hailing from the hills of Massachusetts. They tastefully blend various genres from Funky Reggae to Soul and bad ass Rock n' Roll. The beat is held down by an insanely hard hitting drummer/lead singer resembling much of Levon Helm and John Bonham. Funky slap-style bass lines and a Garcia-esque guitar player provide groovin' melodies for music enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy.
