Northampton filmmaker Rio Contrada brings his debut feature film Splinter to the Academy of Music as a benefit for CHD Mental Health Care. Splinter is a psychological drama starring Scout Tayui-Lepore (The Studio) and 6-time Emmy Award-winner Debbie Allen (Fame). It follows Rosy Looper, a motorcycle-riding, pill-popping psychology grad student who must confront her own history of trauma in order to help a second grader exhibiting mysterious behaviors. Premiering in June of 2025 at Dances with Films in Hollywood, Splinter features an all-Western Massachusetts soundtrack including local heroes Sun Parade, Mal Devisa, And the Kids, Mibble, Prewn, Boy Harsher, Jake Klar and Karlo Rueby. 100% of ticket sales will go toward CHD Kids and Young Adults Counseling Services.
