SOMATICS FESTIVAL 2019 SEPTEMBER 19-23, 2019 Celebrating The Work of JANET ADLER BONNIE BAINBRIDGE COHEN NANCY STARK SMITH And the 45-Year Heritage of Contact Quarterly Welcome to our festival. Our intention is to create a gathering which celebrates the emergence and confluence of these bodies of work in this unique place of Northampton, while marking the present moment and encouraging new connections. Main events will be documented for inclusion in the archives of the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. "Somatics" references bodies of work that call forth an inherent experience of the intelligent moving/dancing body. The spaces that support creative work and somatic processes in our community are also being celebrated: the Smith College Crew House, SCDT at STUDIO4, and the new arts facility 33 Hawley Street. Please note that event fees are offerings to make the whole gathering possible. Workshop sizes and audience capacity are limited by the facilities and the needs of presenters. On-line registration reserves your place and is non-refundable. The Saturday "conversations" are in a large auditorium at Smith College that can host all of us together. Within these parameters, the festival format offers time and space for movement, discussion, and gathering with colleagues. Appreciation to all who are helping to make this possible, including the presenters who enthusiastically said "yes" to the possibility of gathering. Andrea Olsen, Festival curator for A.P.E.@Hawley With Lisa Thompson/A.P.E. & Jen Polins/SCDT
