SCDT presents RYTHEA LEE Workshops FIRST THE BODY, THEN THE WORDS SATURDAY, APRIL 27 FROM 12-3PM

The School for Contemporary Dance and Thought (25 Main St 4th floor Northampton MA)

Art

WORKSHOP:The brain shifts over to wordless impulse when it is given just the right freedom and just the right amount of structure. The body wants to let go but needs the rooted experience of ground, breath, focus, and unwinding. It loves when the thinking moves into the background. The mind likes to be called on intentionally, invited in like a special guest, rather than playing at full blast all day long. The body and the mind (in this case words) get excited when meeting in the play of yes and no, throwing insights around like a volleyball, collaborating in tandem, in a passionate conversation.Come connect with your body, and then your words in a fresh way. Discover what your BEING is expressing these days, what it wants you to know. Stop trying to understand everything, for just one day, dragging your tired bones along, and just show up. Show up for the unusual.

She has a private practice as a trauma counselor for 23 years and teaches Peer Counseling classes, a practice of peer to peer emotional support.
