Entertainment + Music

Beit Ahavah, the Reform Synagogue of Greater Northampton announces a community-wide Benefit Concert & Celebration “Relight the Lights” featuring the new band Iconoklez on Sunday, April 3, 2022, 4:00 p.m. (doors open at 3:30 p.m.), with outdoor reception to follow.

The highlight of the afternoon will be the premier concert of Iconoklez with an uplifting introduction to the band and our community by Rabbi Riqi Kosovske and community leaders to highlight the triumph of the heart in these times and our appreciation for the power of community.

Drawing on Klezmer and Yiddish influences, and stretching far beyond the Pale into other genres, Iconoklez is a brand new collaborative project. Made up of internationally seasoned musicians residing locally in Florence and Greenfield, the band began playing weekly during the late pandemic era, with the idea that one day soon a live audience would gather to hear them.

Iconoklez - The new Florence/Greenfield Klezmer-infused Collaborative includes: Ilene Stahl (clarinet), Myk Freedman (lap steel guitar), Rafe Wolman (violin, guitar, vocals), and Richie Barshay (percussion).

We are thrilled the Concert will be held in-person in our beautiful updated Sanctuary at our home in the historic Florence Congregational Church, featuring a new stage and state of the art sound and light equipment in conjunction with Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity.

A festive celebratory reception immediately follows the Concert, held in the beautiful backyard of Beit Ahavah (or renovated Social Hall if raining), featuring hors d’ouevres by Barbara Frank Catering and a Shirley Temple Bar, with time to “shooze” (socialize) and mingle.

Attendees must provide proof of vaccination for ages 5+ and masks are required indoors for ages 2+. Price of the Concert and Celebration will be $18 per person; under age 18 can attend free of charge. In-person and livestreamed to Zoom. Tickets available at beitahavah.org/rsvp and at door. All welcome!
