Raquy Danziger is an internationally acclaimed musician, artist, teacher and composer based in Jaffa. Considered to be one of the foremost experts and virtuosos on the oriental goblet drum known as the darbuka, Raquy is renowned for her electrifying performances. Through her concerts, compositions, and teaching methodology, Raquy has made a significant contribution toward elevating the darbuka from a humble folk drum to a shining solo instrument fit for a concert hall. With a mission to introduce the darbuka to people all over the world, Raquy has inspired a new generation of players.

This class will cover some more advanced techniques and rhythms on the darbuka. It's suitable for anyone who took the previous day's basics workshop or those players who are already familiar with the basics.

We will learn:

  • Finger Techniques
  • Snaps
  • Different Rolls
  • Odd Rhythms
  • Solo Phrases

You are welcome to bring any darbuka with the rounded rim, but the Alexandria style dumbek is recommended.

*All workshop attendees receive a free ticket to the concert on Sunday evening!*
