The Policy Playhouse, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to connecting policymakers and constituents through the power of art, is pleased to announce its 2026 Playwriting & Film Festival. The festival will take place on February 28, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 PM at Smith College’s Julia Child Campus Center, Carroll Room (2nd Floor).

The annual festival brings together 22 artists, community members, and civic leaders to explore pressing local policy issues through creative expression. This year’s program will feature short films, staged play readings, and a live policy forum designed to spark dialogue and deepen public engagement. Participating artists will compete for awards from a designated prize pool.

The afternoon will begin with staged play readings at 2:00 PM, followed by short film screenings. A live policy forum will follow, featuring Aline Davis (City Councilor), Anat Weisenfreund (Ward 2 School Committee Member), and Jennifer Walts (Founder and Program Coordinator of the Pioneer Valley Doula Collaborative). The forum will invite audience members into conversation around the themes presented in the performances.

A reception will begin at 4:00 PM, with festival awards announced at 4:30 PM.

Through storytelling and performance, The Policy Playhouse creates accessible spaces for civic dialogue, using art as a bridge between communities and the decisions that shape their lives.

The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
