In celebration of National Pride Month, Out! For Reel LGBTQ Films presents a wonderfully rich variety of uplifting short films, narrative and documentary, that tell stories about lesbians of all ages, living their lives, from middle schoolers with crushes to elders living large and proud. With delightful humor, heartfelt poignancy, and abundant inspiration, these films enlighten and entertain through their relatable and authentic storytelling.

DYKES, CAMERA, ACTION!
Director: Caroline Berler; 2018; USA; 58 min

Lovers of lesbian film unite! This fascinating and entertaining story of lesbian cinema is told by the inspiring and genius lesbian filmmakers who made it all happen. With a delightful multitude of lesbian film clips, director Caroline Berler takes us on a riveting, behind the scenes exploration of ’70s lesbian cinema, ’80s lesbian activism, ’90s Lesbian & New Queer Cinema, and 21st-century Hollywood-styled lesbian films. Barbara Hammer, a talented and radical trailblazer in lesbian filmmaking for decades, recently died in March at age 79, and this film offers us her last glorious interview.

In this comedic film, a newly-out lesbian struggles to find the right outfit to wear to a party. Each of her friends has a different opinion about what she should wear and how she should act, but in the end, she decides to dare to be herself. But how will she fare at the party???

GETTING STARTED
Director: Andrea Meyerson, 2018, USA, 21 min

After meeting online, 50 something Tori and Joy finally have their first date. Chemistry ensues immediately, but will their mutual attraction be enough to overcome some of the challenges presented? With life priorities set and a wishlist for a partner perfectly honed, do you dare let your heart open to the unexpected?

A GREAT RIDE
Director: Deborah Craig & Veronica Deliz, 2018, USA, 28 min

Leave it to these radical, political, fighting the good fight, older lesbians to embrace aging with dynamism, determination, a zest for life, and humor – lots of humor. Featuring Sally Miller Gearhart, visionary lesbian author of “Wanderground,” and Brenda Crawford, lifelong LGBTQ political activist, A GREAT RIDE offers portraits of older lesbians who are inspiring role models for aging and who all have an independent and irreverent spirit and a heartening delight in living well, laughing hard, and staying in their power.
