Northampton Summer Park Series 2021 Friday August 6 @ 5:30pm Salsa in the Park w/ KomboLoko; Dance KomboLoko: Arthur Anthony Clinton also known as Art "Jayko" Clinton was born February 21, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York. Art says: "My uncle Chuito (Jesus Rodriguez) and his sextet influenced my passion for Latin music. My father and uncles Louie and Eddie Clinton also played guitar and sang." Throughout the 70's and 80's, Art lived in Puerto Rico and performed in bands such as Martin Galagarza Y La Conquistadora, OPUS 75, Generacion 2000, Maldades and La Orquesta Opus. In 1983 Art retired from the music business. He raised his young family in Far Rockaway, New York and Springfield, Massachusetts. After 18 years of retirement Art made his come back in 2000 along with his long time friend and music partner Carlos Pabon. They both formed the band La Orquesta Opus Tres. The band played with David Pabon and was invited to perform for the grand opening of the New Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. In 2007 Art "Jayko" Clinton formed a band called KomboLoko. The band released their first CD "Komboloko" in 2009. The CD includes the hit single "Tell me what you want" with guest singer Rey De La Paz. Director Anthony Felton also featured the album in the film "El Barrio" released in 2010. Latin Wildfire Dance Company was founded by Zamirah Santos & Michael Rodriguez. The Northampton Arts Council, in its sixth year of presenting concerts in the Park, continues a long-held musical tradition that dates back to the 1970's. Join us for live music and dancing in our beautiful park. We are presenting six shows this summer in July, August, and September. Shows start at 5:30pm and go until 7:30pm. Some important information: Please bring sunblock, drinking water, and a blanket to sit on. No pop up tents or chairs with metal legs are permitted on the grass turf at Pulaski Park.
