Maryna Krut at The Iron Horse on Tuesday, November 10 2026
Presented by the UMass Fine Arts Center
Maryna Krut is a master musician and songwriter whose work brilliantly blends tradition and contemporary influence.
Krut is a virtuoso of the sixty-five-string bandura, the national instrument of Ukraine. With gorgeous, soulful playing, ethereal vocals, and defiantly beautiful songwriting, Krut deftly weaves the traditional sounds of her homeland into a transcendently innovative style of folk pop. As you lose yourself in her songs, it becomes easy to understand how Krut has emerged as a rising star of the international stage.
And in the years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Krut has grown into something much more than a musical visionary. At home, Krut regularly travels to the front lines to perform for troops fighting to preserve Ukraine’s independence. On stages across the world, she serves as a cultural representative of her homeland, reminding audiences of the resilience of the Ukrainian people and rallying support for the country. In all cases, she serves as a reminder that music, with its capacity to inspire the imagination and elevate the spirit, can be a form of resistance all its own.
