Las Guaracheras at The Iron Horse on Sunday, October 18 2026
Las Guaracheras is a powerful Latin jazz sextet formed in 2017 in the city of Cali, Colombia. Their repertoire spans Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as Salsa, as well as music from Colombia’s Pacific region. In their compositions, Las Guaracheras place a strong emphasis on gender perspective and on the recognition and empowerment of women’s roles in the music industry - particularly within Colombia’s Latin Music scene. Through their lyrics, they convey a manifesto of female power and resilience.
Las Guaracheras were 2024/25 Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Performing Arts Global Exchange artists.
The ensemble has performed and conducted multi-age, bilingual educational programming at U.S. venues such as: UCSB Arts & Lectures (CA), Lincoln Center (NY), Twin Cities Jazz Festival (MN), etc. In July 2026 they were featured at respected U.S. venues such as: Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Joe´s Pub (NYC), The Ark (MI), etc
"I’m Laura Linares, Director of Las Guaracheras, and I would like to share with you a very difficult situation that we are currently experiencing in our country. On Monday, August 10, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck our country, bringing virtually all activities to a standstill and leaving tens of thousands of people dead, as well as many families who are now homeless and facing extremely vulnerable circumstances.Fortunately, all of the members of Las Guaracheras were safe, and we were able to offer help rather than needing it ourselves. However, the magnitude of this tragedy has deeply affected us. It feels as though life itself has been suspended, as if everything came to a halt in the wake of this devastating event. We have found it difficult to return to our activities as usual. However, as we look ahead to our upcoming Fall 2026 Tour, which begins on September 9, we feel a strong need to give this tour a new purpose and place our music at the service of those who need it most. For this reason, we are reaching out to ask for support in helping us coordinate and expand our performances throughout the tour, with the goal of turning our concerts, workshops, and educational activities into spaces for connection, solidarity, and meaningful support. Our intention is to organize performances and educational activities that, in addition to sharing our music and artistic work, will allow us to collect donations that will be entirely dedicated to supporting the people and communities affected by this tragedy in our country. We would like to invite institutions, organizations, festivals, universities, cultural spaces, communities, and individuals who would like to join this initiative to help us build this Fall 2026 Tour together. Any form of support, collaboration, or connection would be deeply meaningful to us and would allow us to bring our music to communities with an even greater sense of purpose. We want this tour to be a way of transforming pain into solidarity, of connecting with communities through music, and of contributing, through what we know and love to do, to those who are in need of support today. We sincerely thank all the people and institutions who may be able to join this initiative and help us make this tour possible with all our hearts. With gratitude,Las Guaracheras"
