JEFFREY FOUCAULT / SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING — Jeffrey Foucault returns to the Parlor Room for a full-band triple-bill song swap with Jim Fitting and Dave Champagne, the surviving members of Treat Her Right, the seminal 1980’s band (in which Billy Conway played cocktail drum, and Mark Sandman played low guitar) that toured with everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Bob Dylan, and took the Chess Records one-chord vamp and high-guitar/low-guitar blues and amped harmonica of Wolf, Muddy, and Little Walter into new territory with songs like “I Think She Likes Me,” and “I’ve Got a Gun.” Playing round robin on a mix of originals and early blues and sharing the stories that go with them, Smokestack Lightning drills down to the bedrock American music that became rock’n’roll.
