The Green Street Trio, recipients of the prestigious 2017 NEPR Arts and Humanities Award acknowledging their contributions to the community, have been working steadily as a unit for over 14 years. Their first performance was in 2010 when they started the Northampton Jazz Workshop at the Green Street Cafe in Northampton. The trio consists of Paul Arslanian on piano, George Kaye on bass and Jon Fisher on drums. They have been working both as trio and as a backup rhythm section for many internationally renowned jazz musicians and vocalists. All three have performed with other noted jazz musicians and have toured extensively. Here is a quote from an audience member from a concert on 12/1/24.
“Dear friends, I want to say, again, how grateful I am for the Music East Committee, because yesterday, once again, I was blown away by the performance by Paul Arslanian and the Green Street Trio. I was amazed by the performance, partly because I know very little about the kind of music they played and it therefore was a terrific learning experience for me, but also, I was astonished by the sheer energy they put into their playing, by the obvious love they had for the music, and by the artistic teamwork they exhibited. I loved the entire performance and felt very lucky to be there.”
