The Jacob Smith Trio plays Northampton Jazz Festival's "Up Jumped Spring" jazz series on April 27 at 7:30 PM. Featuring Jacob Smith on drums, Conway Campbell, Jr. on bass, and Andrew Wilcox on piano. ** ___ ** **Jacob Smith** is ranked nationally in the top ten of top high school jazz drummers. Born in Gill, Massachusetts, Jacob is a senior at Northfield Mount Hermon School and an active member of Isosceles Groove Jazz Trio and G Notes. Jacob has already received considerable recognition as a young jazz musician: he was the YoungArts winner in 2019 & 2020 at the Vail Jazz Festival; he has received a Lincoln Jazz Center Jazz Scholarship; a UMass Jazz in July scholarship in 2017, 2018, and 2019; the Berklee College of Music Outstanding Musicianship in 2017, 2018 and 2019; and performed at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2018. ___ **Conway Campbell, Jr.** is a jazz bassist and composer from Worcester, Massachusetts who studies at the University of Hartford, ‘22. He is a member of Isosceles Groove Jazz Trio and Andrew Wilcox Trio, and the Unity Quintet. Conway is currently studying with master bassist Ron Carter. ___ **Andrew Wilcox** is a jazz pianist, composer and arranger originally from Worcester, Massachusetts and a ‘20 graduate of the Hartt School of Music in Hartford Connecticut. Andrew is currently pursuing his graduate studies in jazz and composition at UMass Amherst. Andrew is a well-known and sought after jazz pianist in the New England area.
