Entertainment + Music

On Sunday, October 20 at 4:00 PM, Illuminati Vocal Arts Ensemble will present ***Annelies***, a full-length choral work based on the Diary of Anne Frank. The music from ***Annelies*** is by acclaimed British composer James Whitbourn, with text by Melanie Challenger taken from Anne Frank's diary and other sources dear to her. We will perform at Helen Hills Hills Chapel, 123 Elm St, Northampton, under the baton of Dr. Tony Thornton, and will be joined by soprano soloist Jamie-Rose Guarrine and a chamber ensemble. ___ ___ "Annelies (Anne) Frank has a permanent place in history as the Jewish schoolgirl whose diary of her years hiding from the Nazis makes unbearable reading when we know her fate at Bergen-Belsen. Melanie Challenger has fashioned an elegiac libretto from its poetic pages which James Whitbourn sets with such tender respect it's almost impossible to hear without tears." ___ —Stephen Pritchard, The Guardian ___ Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 senior and $10 student, and are available at illuminatiensemble.org and at the door. No one will be turned away for want of means.
