The first days of menstruation often ask us to slow down and listen closely to the body. This supportive Iyengar Yoga practice is designed especially for the first one to two days of the cycle, when symptoms such as cramping, heavy bleeding, fatigue, headaches, or lower back discomfort may be most present. Through carefully sequenced, fully supported postures, the class aims to relieve abdominal tension, quiet the nervous system, and create space for the body to rest and restore.
Using the precision of the Iyengar method and the generous support of props, students will explore gentle forward extensions, supported reclining poses, and quiet inversions that help ease pelvic congestion and soothe menstrual discomfort. The emphasis is on comfort, containment, and stability which will allow the abdomen and lower back to soften while the mind becomes calm and steady.
This practice offers practical tools for caring for yourself during the most sensitive days of your cycle. Students will leave with a sense of ease and support, along with poses they can return to whenever their body calls for rest during menstruation.
All levels welcome!
