Holiday Gifts from The Kitchen with Betty Rosbottom and Barbara Morse

Wednesday, December 7, 2022 6:30 PM ET  In-Person Demonstration and Zoom Cooking Class

This class has been so popular in years past that Barbara Morse and Betty Rosbottom have planned an all-new Gifts from the Kitchen course. What could be more thoughtful than a homemade present of food to offer friends, family, teachers, neighbors, or hosts during this season of sharing. Betty and Barb have chosen some of their favorite recipes-both savory and sweet-for you to sample. They’ll also show you how to wrap and package these treats with holiday trim. Sign up early as this class always fills up quickly.

Sweet Gifts:

Pecan Pie Bar Cookies
With a buttery shortbread base and luscious pecan filling, this is a cookie to be enjoyed boxed as a gift or an anytime treat.  Make an extra batch to take along as a most welcome hostess gift.

Triple Layer Dark and White Chocolate Mint Brownies
Creamy chocolate layers scented with crisp peppermint flavor, these rich bites are the perfect gift for chocolate lovers and, when wrapped individually, are a lovely take-home favor after your holiday party.

Hazelnut Star Cookies

A butter-rich nut dough is cut into star shapes and baked until golden. Swirls of melted white chocolate garnish each star cookie.

Dark Chocolate Espresso Truffles with Kahlúa and Crushed Chocolate Coffee Beans

These truffles get a triple jolt of coffee from instant powdered coffee, coffee liqueur, and chocolate-coated coffee beans. They are decadently rich and addictive!

Savory Gifts:

Brandied Wheel of Camembert Stuffed with Walnuts and Dried Cranberries

A lid is cut from a round of Camembert and the cheese is scooped out and the cavity filled with toasted walnuts and dried cranberries. Then the lid is replaced, and the cheese is brushed with brandy. The Camembert is baked and served with sliced apples and crisp crackers.

Parmesan, Pine Nut, and Green Olive Biscotti
Easy to prepare, traditional biscotti with a savory twist to be enjoyed out of hand or arranged on a cheese and charcuterie platter. A much-enjoyed gift, especially for those who love Italian flavors.

Rosemary Cashews
Easy to prepare, tasty nuts are full of sweet and spicy flavors enhanced with bright and woodsy fresh rosemary. Package these beautiful nuts in clear cello bags with a bright ribbon or serve them warm to your family and friends.

Glistening Red Wine Cherry Chutney

Dried cherries, golden raisins, dried apricots, and diced apple are simmered in a red wine and sugar mixture scented with rosemary.  This chutney is delicious served with cheeses or with roast chicken or turkey.

Shiitake Mushroom Pâté with Belgian Endive Leaves and Toasted Baguette Slices

This dish will be sampled and recipe provided but not demonstrated.

Sautéed chopped shiitakes, garlic, and scallions are combined with herbs and softened cream cheese. The delicious mélange is then packed into a ramekin and served with Belgian Endive leaves, sugar snap peas, or toasted baguette slices.
