On February 20, at 5pm in the Carroll Room at the Smith College Campus Center, Artist Shahzia Sikander will present the Smith College Museum of Art Miller Lecture in Art.
The lecture, entitled "Reckoning: Shahzia Sikander from Manuscript Painting to Contemporary Animation," is an in-person event that will be live streamed on Facebook.
Reception to follow from 6–7:30 p.m. at the Brown Fine Arts Atrium, Smith College Museum of Art.
Shahzia Sikander (b. Lahore, Pakistan) is widely celebrated for subverting Central and South-Asian manuscript painting traditions. Sikander will discuss her contemporary practice–which includes painting, sculpture, and animation–and the historical influences that inform her work.
