The Academy of Music Theatre will present a feature performance with award-winning poet, Denice Frohman. In addition, we will introduce a young rising award-winning poet from Western Massachusetts, Marissa Perez. This program is free and is 35 minutes in length. 200 tickets available.

Denice Frohman is a poet, performer, and educator from New York City. A CantoMundo Fellow, she’s received residencies and awards from the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures, Leeway Foundation, Millay Colony, and Blue Mountain Center. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The BreakBeat Poets: LatiNext, Nepantla: An Anthology for Queer Poets of Color, ESPNW, and elsewhere. A former Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, she’s featured on hundreds of stages from The White House to The Apollo, and co-organized #PoetsforPuertoRico. She lives in Philadelphia.

The Academy will be also be introducing the young rising poet, Marissa Perez, who is a student from Northampton, Massachusetts. In 2020, Perez became the 97th recipient of the Glascock Poetry Prize with a manuscript of 10 works. She is entering the second semester of her junior year at Hampshire College and is working toward her senior thesis. Perez has been a lifelong observer of detail and the sensory and best understands existence through writing. Her influences include Hanya Yanagihara and Joan Didion.
