December in the Hosmer Gallery Paintings by Alice Thomas, Tisha Ferguson, and Cin Kunz December 3-29, 2019 Reception: December 4, 6-8 PM Tisha Ferguson's selection of paintings is titled Soft Works: Abstract landscapes in fiber & mixed media. Her abstract expressionist landscapes are emotional interpretations of the world as it reveals itself. Alice Thomas is a contemporary-conceptual artist of western Massachuestts. She has shown her work in Massachusetts and New York; recent venues include Smith College, Amherst College and the Stoneleigh-Burnham School. Her paintings in this exhibit are acrylic on canvas from both the Precarious and Coalesce series, including the painting that became the cover art for Silkworm 12: Survival, Annual Review of the Florence Poets Society, 2019 edition. Cin Kunz is an interdisciplinary artist based in Northampton, MA. Her newest paintings present a visual reaction to the conflict between the symbiotic foundation of the natural world and the chaotic expansion of exploitative human activity. She examines the tension found between forms, the use of line as points of contact and meaning, and the influence of one boundary, one direction, one action upon another. Cin has recently exhibited at Westfield State University Arno Maris Gallery, Greenfield Community College South Gallery, Massachusetts Statehouse Senate Conference Chambers, #Local Gallery, Artspace, Arts Night Out Northampton, MAP Gallery, and at open studios in Western Massachusetts.
