Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore – Almost Acoustic Duo

Roots music legends, the Grammy winning Dave Alvin and Grammy nominee Jimmie Dale Gilmore, decided to join forces and play music together in 2017. Although Texas born Gilmore was twice named Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone, and California native Alvin first came to fame in the hard rocking rhythm and blues band The Blasters, they discovered that their musical roots in old blues and folk music are exactly the same.

As musician, writer, and record producer, Lenny Kaye has been intimately involved with the creative impulse that marks the music.  He is a founding member of Patti Smith and Her Band, dating from their first performance as a duo at St. Marks Church in New York’s East Village on February 10, 1971, and has produced such artists as Suzanne Vega, Jim Carroll, Allen Ginsberg, Soul Asylum, Kristin Hirsh, Pussy Riot, James, and Jessi Colter.  His books include You Call It Madness: The Sensuous Song of the Croon (2004); Waylon: An Autobiography (1994); and Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll (2022).  His seminal anthology of garage rock, Nuggets: Original Artyfacts of the First Psychedelic Era, is regarded as defining a genre and recently celebrated its golden anniversary.  In 2011, France honored him with the distinction of Chevalier de L’ordre des Arts et des Lettres.  Lenny’s new solo album, Goin’ Local, will be released on Yep Roc Records in July.
