Friday, April 5, 8:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Experimental Performance Arena at the Anchor House of Artists presents Daniel Levin and A. Eithne Hamilton duo with Eliot Cardinaux. This will be one of the most progressive experimental live music performances in Northampton. ___ Daniel Levin has developed his own distinctive voice as a cellist, improviser, and composer. Ed Hazell noted upon release of Levin’s first record as a leader, “Cellist Daniel Levin is a major new voice on his instrument and in improvised music.” Elements of European classical music, American jazz, microtonal and new music, and European free improvisation all figure prominently in his unique sound. ___ A. Eithne Hamilton is a performing artist based in original choreography and film work. Her art creates experimental movement and film works through various collaborations. According to her statement, she creates “site-specific, immersive environments that disrupt the experience of daily life and become a bridge to a world that I find more interesting, that I would rather be living in.” ___ Eliot Cardinaux, an experienced and will-travel pianist, poet, and performance artist, will introduce a sampling from a new suite of work that fuses genres into a tapestry of sound. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. and has taught in workshops and masterclasses at various schools such as Amherst College, New England Conservatory, and Jyderup Højskole in Denmark. His music carries the influence of Afro-American as well as European classical and free improvised traditions, and his poetry uses sense and sound to tie together images often juxtaposed in unconventional ways. ___ All together they will supply the audience with a full force aural and tactile experience that will tantalize all the senses. *This program is supported in part by a grant from the Northampton Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.*
