Crowdsourced Cinema: Beetlejuice is the 5th installment of an annual public art project conceived of
and produced by Northampton Open Media, formerly Northampton Community Television. Each
summer the community of the greater Northampton area remakes a famous feature length film in
celebration of the spirit of creation and love of the moving image. Approximately 40 teams of roughly
300 people each make a short scene of the film which is stitched together like one giant multimedia
quilt. ln past years we have remade Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Princess Bride, Back to the Future,
and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. ln addition, we have franchised the project and Crowdsourced films have
been made in Boston, Connecticut, and Wisconsin as well.
