Florence Civic Center (90 Park St, Florence, MA 01062)

Entertainment + Music

Northampton, MA—On Thursday, July 18,** **Valley-based psych-blues pop rock guitar trio, Colorway will be performing one last show in the area for the foreseeable future. ___ Bandleader, F Alex Johnson’s wife, Jodi, was offered a job teaching English in Kyoto, Japan, and the two will be moving there at the end of July. Alex is hoping to continue creating and performing music while overseas. He has toured the country three times, both as guitarist for the Young at Heart Chorus as well as a solo performer and this move is a bit of a dream come true. ___ But before any of that happens there will be one more show in town to celebrate. On **Thursday, July 18**, Colorway will play a full 90 minute set of music in the center of Florence as part of the Music On The Porch series. The show runs from 6:30-8pm, is free and all ages and folks are encouraged to bring friends, family, lawn chairs and blankets to take in the event. The location is the lawn of the **Florence Civic Center** and the rain location is across the street at the** Florence VFW**. ___ Independent Music Award winning guitarist, F Alex Johnson (Drunk Stuntmen/The Young At Heart Chorus) assembled Colorway in late 2012 to give life to the new music he had been writing since getting sober in 2008. The nearly 30 years of writing, recording and performing under Johnson’s belt is evident in every song and in every show. Colorway has released three albums in the past five years—their debut self-titled 2013 album as well as 2015’s *The Black Sky Sequined *(mastered by engineering legend, Bob Ludwig) which Modern Rock Review called “One of the finest rock albums of 2015” Colorway’s third album “These Are The Days” was released this past June and was recorded at Spirit House Studios with Danny Bernini (Ben Harper/Stryper/Blondie). The nine track effort features guest appearances by **Chris Collingwood** (Fountains of Wayne/Look Park) on backup vocals. “These Are The Days” features nine brand new songs brimming with tight pop hooks, soaring lead guitar, and subject matter that touches on incredible love, loss, hope and the search for contentment in this uncertain and world. ___ So come see for yourself—one last time—how the power of three people who love what they do as much as Colorway does can move you, groove you and remind you that—to paraphrase Mr Frank Zappa, music really is the best. ___ **When:** Thurs. July 18 ___ **Where:** Florence Civic Center Lawn ___ **What time:** 6:30-8:00pm ___ **How much: FREE** ___ ___ In the event of rain the show moves across the street to the VFW across the street. ___ ___ Event photo: Julian Parker-Burns
