The Bombyx Brass season continues with our fantastical and delightful program Magical Music in March! The program will feature John William’s Quidditch (from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), the technically challenging Year of the Dragon by Phillip Sparke, a low brass arrangement of Ramin Djawadi’s Game of Thrones, and a musical tour of the Canadian Provinces with Suite on Canadian Folk Songs by Calvin Marlatt. And for good measure, we will round out the program with the second movement of Gunther Schuller’s Symphony for Brass and Percussion, another awesome arrangement by BBC member Will Choe, Offenbach’s “Can-Can”, individual performances by each section of the ensemble, and of course a fanfare or two.
What better way to spend a late winter Sunday afternoon than being entertained by the exhilarating and diverse sounds of the Bombyx Center’s very first resident ensemble – The Bombyx Brass Collective!
As always, admission to the ensembles’ performances is free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted, with all proceeds going to support future programming and advocacy in the community.
