More Info. Join us for an evening of family activism in celebration of Banned Books Week ! This legislative session, two Freedom to Read bills are being voted on by the MA House and Senate. Similar to the bills recently passed in Rhode Islan d and Delaware, these pieces of legislation will grant protections to libraries, bookstores, and creators who write and produce books. We are lucky to have these bills being co-sponsored by local legislators, so let them know how much we appreciate it. Let's flood the offices with our support for the freedom to read! On October 10, 5:30-7:30pm at High Five Books, come learn more about these amazing pieces of legislation, write postcards of support to our elected officials, and eat a bevy of tasty treats from bookseller Corrie's social-justice themed cookbook, The Revolution Will Be Well F ed ! Meet members of Authors Against Book Bans , an organization of book creators fighting for our freedom to read, plus staff members from the Massachusetts Center for t he Book, who will be presenting on their work with the bills as well.
