Serena Kabat-Zinn is a figuative painter and collage artist. Her large scale pieces explore narratives of identity, using patterns of color and sweeping shapes of blank space to make visceral the experience of inhabiting a body in the world. The direct gaze of her portraits ask us to consider our role as spectators and to look inward at our relationships to ourselves, our histories, and the nature that binds us.
