In fall of 2019, Alex was selected to be in the prestigious Focusyear band at the JazzCampus in Basel, Switzerland where she lived, studied and played for a year alongside masters such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Seamus Blake, Billy Childs, Guillermo Kien, and more. The band also recorded and released an album of original music "Open Paths" as well as toured around Europe.  Alex is now back living in New York City continuing to perform and teach around the city and internationally. Her new quartet project focuses on the female voice by exploring the diverse aspects of the female voice through a collection of musical pieces and poetry, all written by female poets, composers, and songwriters, including herself.
