**The 27th Annual Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival** (www.glasgowlands.org), will be held on July 16, 2022, at Look Memorial Park, 300 N Main St., Northampton, MA 01062. Hours are 9am – 5pm, with music continuing in the Celtic Pub until 9:30 pm (rain or shine). The event presents the best in Scottish and Celtic heritage with the sounds of bagpipes and drums to the smells of authentic Celtic foods and the sights of the traditional kilts. As the second largest Scottish Festival in New England, and the only one in Massachusetts, the event offers a wealth of world class Celtic music, piping and drumming competitions, Highland & Irish demonstrations, Scottish heavy athletics, Scottish gifts and foods, over 30 Scottish clans and genealogy. Featured on the Main Stage are Albannach, Enter the Haggis, Sarah the Fiddler, and Charlie Zahm. This is a family-friendly event and includes children's games, a water spray park and much more. Some of the top athletes in the U.S. will be competing, including some world record holders. The amateur, masters and athletic competitions feature big burly men and strong women throwing large objects in a feat of strength and endurance. Events include the caber toss (telephone pole toss), Throwing the Weight, Putting the Stone and Hammer Throw. These championships are extremely physical, mentally challenging and exciting to watch. There's a plethora of Celtic shopping with many food (find out what Haggis really tastes like!) and merchant vendors selling a wide variety of Celtic products from kilts, to sweets, to books and jewelry; from a sword to a sporran (a leather pouch that hangs on the front of your kilt) to a set of bagpipes. The Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the Scottish culture, to raise funds toward local non-profit organizations and to award Scottish cultural scholarships for Highland dancing and piping.
