Brazil is a country known for the richness of its cultural traditions and “choro” is one of the most precious gems in its musical crown. With roots that stretch back to 19th century Rio de Janeiro, choro offers hints of classical, ragtime and jazz – and yet remains uniquely, exquisitely Brazilian.

In 2019 Northampton hosts the inaugural Choro Camp New England which – like its sister event, Django in June – will draw musicians from across the country for a week of study and jamming with masters of the genre. At weeks end you are invited to join us for our grand finale concert, featuring:

Choro das 3. First, you notice that they are a family band: three sisters and their father. But soon, very soon, you come to appreciate what matters most: their breathtaking musicianship.

Choro Brasil, masters musicians from Brasilia who have long performed and taught at one of Brazil’s oldest schools of choro.
